Translations into English from any Indian language — fiction, essay, poetry, plays, interviews, and the occasional piece of long-form reportage. We publish work in Tamil, Bengali, Malayalam, Hindi, Marathi, Kannada, Urdu, Odia, Gujarati, Punjabi, Assamese, and Sindhi — and we are always reading work in languages we have not yet published.
We do not publish original work in English. We do not publish work that has previously appeared in English elsewhere, in print or online. We are happy to consider work that has been published in the source language.
Send us the source text, your translation, and a short translator's note (200–400 words) on why this piece and why now. We read submissions in rolling fashion and aim to respond within ten weeks. We do not accept simultaneous submissions — please tell us if the work is being considered elsewhere.
